Live Uncommon - Never Giving Up, Always Giving Back.

My name is Jacob Porth, born and raised in Iowa and I attend North Scott Junior High. I’m on the wrestling, football, soccer and track team. I enjoy hanging out with my buddies, playing backyard football or an up all night sleepover. Not only a city kid, I have the opportunity to play farmer. I enjoy helping with the crops in and out, riding 4 wheelers, fishing and boating. I’m a big brother to my 6 year old sister who sometimes drives me crazy, but I love her. She is my biggest fan.

My first glimpse of Live Uncommon was at the Moonlight Chase when my friend (who is a GREAT runner) was wearing her Live Uncommon gear. I was very curious, after some investigating on the website I discovered that I, 1 person can make a difference, why can’t I? Hence me contacting Live Uncommon and saying “I want to be part of the team”.

The charity that I chose is Hand In Hand because ever since I was a little kid I have been helping out children with disabilities at the Special Olympics. I believe that they should have the opportunity to do anything anyone else can do. This is what has inspired me to make a difference in the community. Running as part of the Live Uncommon team means to me that now I’m not just running for personal goals, now I am running for a purpose to benefit others. Very grateful to have this opportunity!
